Home/Glossary/Karin Law

The Karin Law (Law 21.643) amended Chile's Labor Code to strengthen the prevention, investigation and sanction of workplace harassment, sexual harassment and violence at work, incorporating a gender perspective and the prevention of psychosocial risks. It requires companies to have a prevention protocol, to establish investigation procedures and to adopt protective measures for affected individuals, in coordination with the Labor Directorate and, where applicable, the occupational insurance body. Proper implementation requires reviewing internal regulations, training managers and employees, and providing reliable reporting channels. Non-compliance exposes the company to sanctions and liability. It is a cross-cutting matter that connects employment law with compliance.
